    Those of us who are reading through the Bible this year and have managed to stay on track (this is not meant to produce guilt if you are behind, or pride if you are up to date!), just completed the book of Deuteronomy. As we discovered, the people of Israel are about to enter the promised land and Moses is rehearsing the law with them in preparation for covenantal renewal.     Charles Spurgeon called this passage one of the most terrible in all of Scripture. I must admit that reading these verses again was unsettling.
