A Great Story…

August 14th, 2008

In an earlier journal post, I wrote about Miguel, our sponsor in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He has continued to grow in his ministry and on his last visit to the US, stopped by our office in Franklin, TN. Today he wrote to tell an amazing story. I emailed back and asked permission to share it on my website. Here it is:Yesterday was a wonderful day for all of my family. Very early in the morning I received a phone call from my sister in-law saying that her dad (also my father-in-law) had just been robbed. His car, wallet, house keys, etc were taken from him as he was eating at a little “outside” fast food restaurant. The news was shocking for me and all of us. Thank God he was ok physically and God took care of him. Immediately I went to pick him up and he told me every single detail of what had just happened. I asked him if in the car he had left any evidence that he was a Christian so that the thieves would know it. They also took his cell phone so that he could call them. (That is what thieves here do when they want money. You call them and they say how much they want if you want your car back.) He, (my father-in-law who’s name is Pablo) said that the only evidence he left in the car was Steve’s CD ‘Tienen Que Saber’ and before he got out of the car, that song was being played. So when the thieves took the car, that song was playing in the car. I told Pablo, “I know that ‘Tienen Que Saber’ is going to touch their heart as much as it has touched mine and many other people’s hearts. Even if they don’t return the car, that does not matter.”

In the afternoon we received a phone call from the thieves saying they knew we were Christians and that they did not want to keep the car. They said, “please ask God to bless us, we need His blessing.” They said they had been listening to the album playing (Steve’s album) and they repented for what they had done. Finally they told us where the car was, and we went to pick it up. Right on the seat of the car, there was Steve’s cd, ‘Tienen Que Saber’.

What a wonderful day it was yesterday.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story. It sounds like your music ministered to the robber as much as it does to me.

  3. Dear Steve,

What a beautiful story.God does move in mysterious ways.He has His ways and means of getting through to someone.I pray that these individuals will accept Christ.Just like the thief on the cross did.

That is a very interesting way of getting their car back.

    In Christ Jesus,

  4. Que bonita historia, my dauther has been signing your songs since she was four, now that she is a young woman, she spends many hours writing her own lyrics.
She was only 7 when she sang ‘Tienen Que Saber’ in a small conference in our local church, the night ten pleople gave their life to Jesus. I pray for her to continue adorando a Dios and someday to be able to record her first CD.
